Tuesday Sector Leaders: Energy, Materials

In afternoon trading on Tuesday, Energy stocks are the best performing sector, higher by 2.1%. Within that group, Southwestern Energy Company (NYSE: SWN) and Hess Corp (NYSE: HES) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 6.8% and 5.2%, respectively. Among energy ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLE), which is up 1.5% on the day, and up 8.99% year-to-date.
